HPV Vaccination for Men

Head and Neck Cancer Statistics

  • 456,000 new head and neck cancer diagnoses per year

Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

The human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause infections in the mouth that may lead to cancerous tumors in the head and neck. Men are more likely than women to acquire these infections. Currently, there is no HPV vaccine approved for the prevention of HPV-related head and neck cancers.

About this scientific research

This clinical scientific research evaluates an investigational vaccine to determine if it can reduce the likelihood of a mouth infection caused by certain types of HPV. The study tests the safety of the investigational vaccine and evaluates how the body responds to it.

About the investigational vaccine

The investigational vaccine has been approved in many countries to help protect against anal and genital diseases and cancers caused by certain types of HPV. It is not approved for the prevention of HPV-related head and neck cancers through protection against mouth infections, which is why this study is being conducted. The investigational vaccine is administered by injection.

Recruitment for this study has ended, but the research is ongoing as scientists continue to gather and analyze data
